Gabriel Spring 2022 paper for AMH 2020
As we discussed in class on our first day, the paper that we are preparing for this term will be a
one-page paper written in Times Roman style, font 12. The paper should have 1” margins on all
sides. The line spacing should be set at 1.5. The above settings will be part of the overall grade so
any departure from them will cause you some discount points.
In the paper, you will be a historical character where you will reflect in first person how a particular
historical development is affecting you at that particular time. The work should reflect your
knowledge of the main historical event in the particular period in American history as well as the
consequences and effects it had on you and those around you. Write the paper in first person using
the present tense. Of course, you can refer to past events as part of you narrative. You can select
from the following historical fictional characters. No more than five students can select one of the
topics:
1. You are a recently emancipated slave trying to obtain land in order to become a small
farmer in the Black Belt region of the American South. The term originally described the
prairies and dark fertile soil of central Alabama and northeast Mississippi.

established on June 15, 1898 to battle the American annexation of the Philippines. The
anti-imperialists opposed expansion, believing that imperialism violated the fundamental
principle of a just republican government.

Proper paragraph organization and structure. The paper 20 %
should not be one single long paragraph.
You will give the actual paper to the professor in person by the due date as well as submit it to the
dropbox area in Blackboard. If you are not able to upload the document to the dropbox, you can
