Introduction:
Antibiotics are those medicines that are used for the prevention and treatment of bacterial
infections. In health care, antibiotics are considered to be very strong drugs that have the ability
to fight with dangerous bacterial infections. Antibiotic resistance takes place when germs fail to
respond to the antibiotics manufactured to kill them, that means that germs are alive and
continuously getting severe. It can harm to anyone, in any country and of any age and people
whose immune systems are week, they are at greater risk for having an infection. Antibiotic
resistance causes increase in medical cost to great extent, longer hospital stays and higher death
ratio. The way how world prescribes and uses antibiotics needed to be changed urgently.
Antibiotic resistance
Antibiotic resistance is enormously increasing day by day and is reaching to high levels all over
the world. The antibiotic resistant infection is placing a health and economic burden on the
population and health care system throughout the world. A lot of efforts are needed for the
implementation of new policies and renewal of research efforts. There is a vast list of infectious
diseases such as blood poisoning, tuberculosis and foodborne diseases that are sometimes very
difficult to treat due to less effectiveness of antibiotics. Especially the problem becomes worse
when antibiotics are purchased for human and animals without a prescription. Over-prescription

by the health workers and over-usage by the public can also lead to worst antibiotic resistance
(Frieri et al, 2017)
Control And Prevention of Antibiotic Resistance:
In order to control and prevent the increment of antibiotic resistance, several steps should be
taken by the individuals as mentioned below.
•
Only those antibiotics should be used that are prescribed by a certified doctor.
•
One should not take an antibiotic if his doctor does not consider it necessary.
•
Doctor should advise a patient how to take antibiotic in a right way and should also
convey regarding the risk of misuse.
•
The leftover antibiotics should be discarded.
The spread of antibiotic resistance can also be prevented if the policy makers make following
policies for it.
•
There should be a strong national action plan to monitor whether the antibiotic resistance
is in place or not and scrutiny is must for antibiotic resistant infections.
•
Brace up strategies, functions and implementation of measures to control and prevent
infections.
•
A proper guidance should be provided whether through advertisement or training
sessions to promote the proper usage and ejection of quality medicines.
•
Healthy and proper information should be available on the impact of antibiotic resistance
(Chokshi et al, 2019)
Appropriate usage of antibiotics helps to confront antibiotic resistance and ensures the
availability of these life-saving drugs for next generation. When the first-line antibiotics are no
longer effective to control the infection, then more expensive medicines are to be used. The

duration of illness increases, treatment and hospitals take a longer time as well as the health care
cost increases. All this ultimately result in an economic burden on the patients and their families.
As the modern medicines emerges, their achievement is put to risk by antibiotic resistance.
Transplantation f organs, surgeries and chemotherapy have now become more dangerous in the
absence of effective antibiotics that are necessary to prevent and treat the infections (Aslam et al,
2018)
REASONS OF ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE:
The time has no far when no antibiotic will do anything for diseases in humans or other living
beings because of the irrational use of antibiotics nowadays. It has been seen that people with
very high knowledge or even without any knowledge rely on the antibiotics for their minor
issues like flu and even headaches. Antibiotics resistance is shown when it is exposed to microorganisms such as bacteria. Viruses and other parasites, as long as the microbials get exposed to
the antibiotics the chances to get resistant to it become higher. For example, the penicillin once
considered as the best antibiotic for the gram positive bacterial or the organisms with beta lactam
rings but due to irrational use of this class of antibiotics, the gram positive bacterial got resistant
to it. So, we had to switched to the other class, that it Cephalosporins. The main cause of
resistance is that every organism tries to sustain its life and it is done by altering the gene codes
or developing some protective mechanisms. The resistance made bacteria more tolerable and
prone to cause more infectious and brutal diseases, sometimes referred as superbugs. Researches
says that abusive use of antibiotics cause its resistance at primary level, but the environmental
factors like weak sanitation, poor hygiene, inaccessible clean water play important role in the
spread of disease. The main antibiotics which are getting resistant day by day are the one which
treat urinary infections, sepsis, a few kinds of diarrhea, by these resistances there are now a

shortage of effective antibiotics which are effective on these diseases. According to some study,
the 90% resistant of ciprofloxacin was developed by E. coli, responsible for UTI. Also, the
resistance to Klebsiella pneumoniae has also been shown worldwide. It causes blood infections
and influenza etc. So, we should spread awareness among the people about the irrational use of
antibiotics and its consequences in the upcoming times.
CONCLUSION:
The rapid increase of resistant bacteria is threatening the health benefits of antibiotics. It is a
global crisis as the overuse of these drugs are done worldwide. The pharmaceutical companies
are still not able to develop new antibiotic agents in order to meet the challenge. We ought to
look for to extend our information with respect to the degree of the AMR issue. Current
apprehension regarding this issue is due to lacking data. Consistent and reviving education of
therapeutic understudies, doctors, and drug specialists is required. A worldwide and intrigue
approach must be considered for the improvement of new screening and demonstrative
instruments. The sharing and spread of AMR can be contained by the levelheaded utilize of
antibiotics, contamination control, immunization, and control of individual-to-individual spread
by safeguarding, treatment, mindfulness, and education.

tended to his physical needs, ran aptitude tests for

journalist for a very respectable newspaper company.
In such capacity, Riis was moved to “pay it forward”
for the renters of horrifically unsanitary, dilapidated,
crime-ridden, tenement apartments at the infamous
“Five Points.” His expose accomplished that which
other mukrakers (derisively labeled by opponents as
troublemakers “stirring the pot,” these journalists and
writers publicly exposed practices, institutions, and
individuals that they blamed for unnecessarily
fostering injustice, crime, or misery upon those less
powerful and fortunate) sought: a sense of sufficient
public indignation (righteous anger) to demand
change. As Riis exposed the horrific conditions of
living circumstances amongst poor immigrants in New
York City, others used the pen to fight crusades on
other fronts: Upton Sinclair exposed the dangerously
and grotesquely unsanitary conditions within
meat-packing factories and the highly unhealthy
products thereof; Ida B. Tarbell exposed the ruthless,
unfair business practices of “Robber Barons” like
Rockefeller; and Lincoln Stephens exposed urban
political corruption. Donaldina Cameron headed a
crusade in California against human trafficking
(imported, impoverished Chinese women) and forced
prostitution concerning Chinese, immigrant young
ladies.

Section #1: Court History of Heroic, Progressive
Do-Gooders
Attacking progressives constitutes a clearly-discernible
desire to close one’s eyes to a myriad of romantic facts
simply to invalidate a group of people’s crusade for its
own sake. As historian Richard Hoftstadter makes
clear, progressives (at least those making the
newspapers as politicians or social workers serving in
urban communities) predominantly came from an
echelon or level in society that was very comfortable
or wealthy. Still in an age when most could and did
not attend college, most well-known progressives had
earned degrees…many from prestigious, Ivy League
universities. Life was comfortable for them! So when
they called for taxing higher incomes with higher tax
rates to provide public capital to pay for programs for
manual laborers and the poor and homeless, they
were volunteering to sacrifice more money out of
their own pockets to help the less fortunate. When
they formed “Settlement Houses” (facilities in poor
districts aimed to provide housing, education,
childcare, job training, employment help, and healthy,
extracurricular activities for poor kids to stay “off the
streets”), they often used their own money,
volunteered their time and efforts without pay, used
all donations or profits for enriching the services, or
garnered salaries that could not begin to compete
with the money that their education and connections
could get them in industries like academia or law. A
group this altruistic (demonstrating no aims for
personal or selfish enrichment, but sole concern with
helping someone else and with that person or group’s
well-being) should not be criticized, but it should be
praised for its efforts and sacrifices in the name of
public service…which is extraordinarily rare in human
history. Jane Addams dedicated the greater part of
her adult life to such facilities (especially Hull House in
Chicago), claiming that her late father, a pastor who
