Data Security Issue
The increase and escalation of cybercrime is a threat to both the private and public sector.
Moreover, the need for organizations to ensure that data is secure and used properly is nearly
impossible (Li et al., 2019). Data security guarantees accountability since corporations can
ensure that IT employees, management, and workforce are knowledgeable regarding data
handling (Basani, 2016). The classification of data into confidential, internal company data,
general data, and external data ensures the staff is aware of how each type is handled.
Data security governs network services by dictating how a company handles issues
related to IP address configuration and management along with remote access. The security of
components such as switches and routers is guaranteed along with defined network detection
intrusion (Li et al., 2019). Data security scans for vulnerabilities mainly in the IT infrastructure
should be conducted before hackers do so. Data security policies manage patches through codes
that are implemented for the elimination of vulnerabilities to help with protection against threats.
Accordingly, security policies related to system data ensure that all essential operating
systems and servers are configured. A clear definition of rules about servers that operate a
company’s network and management of passwords and accounts is necessary (Kemper, 2019).
Policies regarding antivirus, database, and firewall should also be well-defined. Data security
monitors compliance using audits so that company management and staff maintain consistency
with various aspects of securing data (Basani, 2016). The audit should be regular including the
monitoring and control of accounts to keep track of those accessing the significant components
data security. Data security is, therefore, a considerable issue of cybersecurity as it safeguards
corporate and personal data from access by third parties.
