Classic
Movie Paper
1. You can choose any film on the Classic List to write your paper.
All of these films are considered classics for one reason or
another. The purpose of this paper is for you to decide if you
agree or not and why.
2. A classic is defined as “a work of art judged over a period of time
to be of the highest quality and outstanding value.”
3. Does this film meet that definition? Why or why not? What did
you like, what did you not like? Why? Give specific examples
from the film. Bear in mind the age of the film, don’t say that
Nosferatu isn’t a classic because it has bad special effects. It has
great special effects for 1922.
4. Everything should be spelled correctly and it should make sense.
This is not an English class, however, it is a college course and
the paper should reflect this. The paper should be 1-2 pages long.
5. Most films are available at Netflix, though not for streaming, you
may have to wait for the DVD to be mailed to you (usually 1
business day) Don’t wait until the last minute to look for the
movie. Check the year on the film, many have been remade or
updated.
6. Grading:
– Grammar/Structure (Intro, Body, Conclusion)
– Is the film a classic, why or why not?
– Examples from film to illustrate your argument
