Please respond to the following in regards to Geography. 150-200 words.
According to Bergman and Renwick (2008), Ellen Churchill Semple, a geographer back in
1903, introduced her book on American History and Its Geographic Conditions by writing, “The
most important geographical fact in the past history of the United States has been their location
on the Atlantic opposite Europe; and the most important geographical fact in lending a
distinctive character to their future history will probably be their location on the Pacific opposite
Asia.”
Would you agree or disagree with this idea today? Have our trade ties and focus changed?
