Deforestation is a problem and there are many non governmental agencies
working to stop the practice and help people reforest their areas.
As I read your response, I thought that I would like to let you all know about
some of the work that has been going on to stall deforestation globally.
Creative programs and ideas along with many different kinds of
stakeholders, are involved. Here is a brief article link from Time Magazine
that explains a bit about how this can be done using carbon credits, and how
it may help us until we come up with the technology we need to deal with
our environmental and energy problems. It is worth the read so that you can
see how partnerships have been created and how they are using Carbon
Credits (I think many people are wondering what they really are and what
they do). This may help bring some understanding to this complex topic. I
am not sure if this program is still in place but it is worth mentioning.
