Open a blank Access database. Name it…Listen Up. You are creating a database for a record
store. Complete the questions below. The point value for each question appears at the end of

Create a table with the following fields and identify the appropriate data type for each field.

• Delete the Website field
• Rename the Birthdate to Birthday
• Move Company below Last Name
• Change Zip to ZipCode
• Add input masks for all appropriate fields (hint: there are three, zipcode is not one of them, all numbers are
mandatory, use short date when necessary)
• Put in a lookup list for city…using Canton, Euclid, Stow and Strongsville. These cities should be in alphabetical
order
• Add a lookup list for state…using Georgia and Florida
• Add Berea to the lookup list for city
• Add Alabama to the lookup list for State
• Make the Last Name mandatory (required)
• Format Company field so that the name appears capitalized when in the datasheet view
• Format the Email field so that the email address appears in lower case when in the datasheet view
• Set the field size of the ZipCode field to 5 characters
• Set the caption of the Email field to Email Address
• Set the default value of the State field to Georgia
• Create a validation rule for the MonthlyPurchase field where any data entered must be less than $50.
• Set the validation text for the MonthlyPurchase field to read…Must be less than $50.
Add four complete records to the tblclustomers. You may make up the data. (3 points)
Create a second table with the following fields and identify the appropriate data type for each field. Save the table as
tblpurchases. (4 points)

• Customer
• PurchaseDate
• Album
• PaymentType
• AlbumCost
Make the following updates and changes to your tblpurchases table. (4 points)
• Add two new fields call ReturnDate and AlbumCode
• Move the PurchaseDate field below the Customer field
• Create a lookup list for the PaymentType field with the following values…Credit Card, Cash and Check
• Add a custom input mask for the AlbumCode field so that you can enter a letter followed by five mandatory
numbers followed by a letter
• Make the AlbumCost field mandatory (required)
• Use an input mask for the PurchaseDate and ReturnDate fields. All numbers are mandatory, use short date.
Create a one-to-many relationship between the tblcustomers (parent table) and tblpurchases (childs table). Use the
customer field in the childs table as the foreign key or linking field. Use last name, first name and phone as your lookup
fields and sort by last name. (5 points)
Add four complete records to the tblpurchases (use each customer in the parent table once). (2 points)
