2017 -2018 for XPO Overall Compared to Landstar Inc.
The main competitor of the expo is the Landstar System, Inc. According to the 2019 data,
XPO.PA had a market capitalization of 2.46b its shares opened at averagely $252 and closed at 258.
The average days’ range for the XPO is 242.0 – 258 the annual range during the same period is
216.0-330. The average trading volume is 155 million shares. The forward dividend Yield for XPO
is 0.6 while the annual target rate was at 217. On the other hand, Landstar Systems has a market
capitalization of 3.654, opened and closed at 95.86. The company average opening is at 92.63 while
closing at 94.68 (Enterprises, Amendment, Grocers, Act, & Ds, 2019). These are figures for 2019.
The stock price for the company has fallen in the latter years due to the recent research to sell the
company shares.

The shares of XPO are up today when it gained 10% at the close of the week since the
company terminated its strategic review that could have overseen its sales of many business units.
Investor confidence increased when the company decided to drop the review. Since the

announcement of the sales, the share prices have reduced to almost half at the same time, the
valuation across the markets have also been affected due to COVID-19 that has slowed the shipping
volumes (Zeithaml, Rust & Lemon, 2019).
When compared to Landstar, XPO stock has been fluctuating over the years and is currently
at the 2-year low of $50. While Landstar’s stock has been on a steady trend, remaining flat as
shown in the diagram below.

XPO vs Logistics Market
When compared with the S&P 500, XPO logistics has a larger market cap than the 20% end
of the S&P 500 companies when grouped. The company rose by six positions in market ranking
although Yahoo finance shows that XPO is not among the 30 preferred stock markets in Logistics
(Li, 2018, August). The company’s hedge funds tarnished the company’s reputation

Comparing XPO to FEDX
Both companies have been struck with reducing stock prices with the shares of XPO down
by 32.9% and that of FEDX down by 23.6%. Both companies blame high costs. Both companies
have had their strategic market in the global trade and they both face the daunting tasks that have
been brought about by Amazon (Grant, Grant & Ortega, 2019). In 2019, both companies have come
to life with XPO shares rising by 15.9% while FEDEX rising by 12.5%. even after shading shares
by over 30%, investing in XPO would be the best buy.
