Using examples from Units 3, 4 and 5 consider how artistic and cultural traditions in one region can
influence art styles in others.
Submit a response essay (400-word maximum, before references) that summarizes your research and
thoughts on this topic. Responses should follow a short essay format (i.e., brief introduction of the topic
and your argument or thesis, the body of discussion including specific examples to use as evidence to
support your argument, and brief conclusion summarizing your argument and how you have proven it).
Use the content of each unit (and its required reading/viewing materials) to guide you, too.
You are expected to integrate at cite at least 5 required readings/viewing materials into your response
essay (1 per each Unit covered plus 2 from any Units covered). Of these, chapters assigned from required
course text (Kelker) is be included whenever it is listed as required readings.
Your responses must include in-text citations. For these unit/module assignments, you are only required
to include a References Cited section if you are bringing in external sources. If you would like to try doing
a references cited section according to SAA style guide, I will look at these to help you improve for the
Term Paper. For the term paper you will be using a References Cited section. For in-text citations I ask
that you follow the SAA Style Guide including formatting (refer to pages 21-25 of the guide for in-text
citations styles and formatting and pages 31 -44 for references styles, formatting and spacing). SAA Style
Guide.
The unit responses will be graded according to the rubric linked here.
