Description
I’m working on a Environmental Science exercise and need support to help me learn.
The term paper will consist of a written paper to broaden your knowledge of a particular environmentand health topic of interest to you. It is also intended to demonstrate how to conduct research using peer reviewed literature, to analyze and assess relevant information and to present the information clearly and concisely. Demonstrated ability to think critically will be part of the evaluation. All the requirement are listed in the attachment. It is a 10 Page paper. I have all the sources already available to me ( which i will send you in chat ). There are 5 sources

Pesticides and its Effects on Living Organisms
•
Thesis Statement- Pesticides are meant to control pests but they also cause a great threat
to the living organism, including humans as well as cause a huge impact on a variety of
ecosystem functions. There is an increase in the use of pesticides for growing crops or in
fields more than usual despite of its toxic nature causing many health problems such as
cancer and immune system problems. They are further linked to a range of serious
illnesses and diseases from neurotoxicity to damage to the central nervous system.
Pesticides do help in increasing crop yield and crop protection but also have various
disadvantages such as reduction of beneficial species, kill non-target species, and a wide
range of problems in human beings causing a threat to human health.
•
Outline:
•
Section 1: Pesticides exposure causes extreme effects on the health of human beings.
These include harming the structure and functioning of the developing brain, nervous
system, and brain health and well-being across the adult lifespan.
•
Part A- Exposure effect on developing and aging brain. Pesticides constitute one of three
major contaminants known to harm the structure and functioning of the developing brain
and nervous system.
•
Part B- Exposure effect on brain health and well-being across the adult lifespan. Pesticide
exposure can prevent people from reaching their full potential.
•
Part C- Exposure effect from DDT, Dieldrin, Endosulfan, Pyrethroid insecticides,
Rotenone, and Pyridaben. Pesticides are a great tool in agriculture and public health but
molecular targets of pesticides are often shared between pest and non-target species,
including humans.

Part D- Causing harmful effects leading to cancer, damage to the immune system, and
other health effects such as respiratory distress.
•
Section 2: Insecticides such as neonicotinoid and fipronil has caused risk to various
ecosystem functions provided by a wide range of species and environments. As they are
used in wide applications, they can be found in soil and water which then is consumed by
various crops and wild plants causing a risk to valuable ecosystem services.
•
Part A- Threat to terrestrial soil ecosystem functions. Pesticides can pose risks to soil
ecosystem processes and services.
•
Part B- Threat to freshwater ecosystem functions. Pesticides can cause potential indirect
effects such as reducing important invertebrate prey.
•
Part C- Threat to Fisheries and aquaculture. The majority of insecticides can affect
cultured fish production and other non-target animals in rice paddy systems.
•
Part D- Threat to Pollination. There is a growing concern worldwide about the fate of
insect-pollinating species and pollinating services because of the use of insecticides.
•
Part E- Threat to food security. As the population is increasing, it will become difficult in
the coming years to increase the food supply needs sustainably.
•
Section 3: What can be done to reduce pesticide impact on wildlife?
•
Part A: Tips for household pesticide users.
•
Part B: Tips for farmers.
•
Part C: Tips for certified Pesticide Applicators.
The term paper will consist of a written paper to broaden your knowledge of a particular
environment and health topic of interest to you. It is also intended to demonstrate how to
conduct
research using peer-reviewed literature, to analyze and assess relevant
information and to present the information clearly and concisely. Demonstrated ability to
think critically will be part of the evaluation. Access to the University’s library databases
will be necessary to do the research.
The Term Paper will consist of two distinct parts:
1. A term paper Topic, of your own choosing or from the instructor, and an Outline
of your proposed paper must be submitted to the instructor by October 8. A
template and further instructions will be provided in the first week of class. The
Outline will be worth 15% of the final mark.

2. A 10-page paper on your chosen topic, due Thursday December 3. This paper
2. A 10-page paper on your chosen topic, due Thursday December 3. This paper
should provide a comprehensive but concise treatise of the current state of
knowledge of the topic, discuss what is known and not known, and outline areas
of future research. The Term Paper will be worth 35% of the final mark.
References
used in the term paper must be from the peer-reviewed literature, including
review articles. A minimum of 5 sources from a peer reviewed journal, government
publication, non-partisan agency publication or monograph are required. Non-peer
reviewed material such as web sites, newspapers and magazines may be used in addition
to peer-reviewed literature to illustrate your points, but must not be relied upon entirely to
support conclusions. Please consult with me if you are not sure of the suitability of the
material.
The paper is to be typed, double spaced with a 12-point font in Times Roman and include
a title page and one single spaced page of references used. The title page and reference
page are not counted in the 10-page total.
In part because of Covid 19 but also in the spirit of reducing the use of paper,
submissions will be electronic. Comments will be provided in combination of track
change within your submission and in a summary page. The summary page and marking
rubric will be provided in the first week of class.
